SMART GOALS

Goals! Why should we have goals? Does it really matter…

Well, actually it does. We are hard-wired to pursue our needs and wants. Setting and achieving healthy goals is essential to our well-being. Planning and striving towards healthy goals expresses that one is in the driving seat of their life.

“The best way to get ahead in life is to arm yourself with specific intent, a clear vision, a detailed plan of action and the ability to maintain personal clarity.”

Only a one step away from where we want to be!

To achieve anything, we have to take full responsibility for what it is that we want to achieve. Remember to always work from your strengths and drop the extra baggage of  unhelpful limiting beliefs. Try to be open to challenges, hard-work, reflection, learning- unlearning and change. After all, there is no growth without some tinkering and discomfort! Isn’t it? Think about it! Remember, that how we are today is not a constant, our growth mindset will lead us towards our goal.

Affirmations Actually Work

Affirmations are very effective. If your goal is that is that you do not want something - put it in the affirmative and focus on that. Whatever we tend to focus on, our thoughts follow and so we lean on to that, eventually making it our reality.

For instance, “I do not want to get a shouting from my mum” can be replaced with affirmation of “I want mum to accept and understand me as I am!”

It is wiser to evaluate the credibility of your set goal, checking how SMART is it! If your desired goal is not SMART, better rethink and question yourself!

MEASURABLE– Can you actually quantify your progress in your journey? By designing your very own success measure, you gain a sense of direction and drive.

ACHIEVABLE – Do you have control over the goal? Do you really believe that it is can be accomplished? Are you ready to face the hurdles in the way?

RELEVANT – Does the goal really worth it? What difference will it make to you either ways? Unless, it is very inter-connected with your values, need, vision and passion, it will eventually lose steam and stop motivating you.

TIMELY – Every goal needs deadline, something that motivates you to apply force and practice self-discipline. Always anchor it in a plausible time frame.

Although not easy, this is worth the trouble! Write your SMART goals and, more importantly, review and revise them, you will make conscious choices that will lead you to success.  You will experience greater confidence as you watch your desired goals unfold in your life.

I truly believe that you can achieve your goals once you put your heart and mind to it. So, tell me, what one thing can you do today that will move you a step closer to your goal?

Go for it, my champions!

YOUR GOAL IN JUST ONE WORD?

Without further ado, think of your goal in just a word or two. What do you really want to achieve? It can be anything small or huge; the only criteria being the goal should REALLY make a difference to you. This vision cannot be what you think other people want you to do, or even what you 'think' is just a good idea. It should be something you believe in and must resonate with you and in turn inspire you.

Ensure a time limit. Goals are your desires made precise with a tagged deadline - one that can be immediate, short- or long-term. Picture it as vividly as you can by writing it, drawing it, talking it out to your near ones or maybe singing it out aloud. Try to be as clear about it as you can.
